It is neither useful nor attractive but still, it somehow continues to survive. It would have indeed felt like an endangered species when the collarless tees came up on the market but that hasn't stopped the buck. A little bit of history explains a lot about the birth of this once great now pointless invention, in the mid-nineteenth century, humans didn't care to bathe or wash their clothes as much as we do now, but this accumulated a lot of dust on their collars, obviously, so they had only detachable collars which were switched daily and can be made possible only with the help of collar buttons.
